Nail art

I had a bit of time before going to the Glowing Dog (a post-apocalyptic bar in the 5kREM game world) so attempted some nail art for my glamour queen character. See the results on her blogĀ here.

I’m not going to do an in-depth tutorial, there’s loads online if you Google ‘camouflage nail art how to’, but here’s a quick run through of my method. It’s basically blobbing cloud shapes on with a cocktail stick in deepening shades. I’ve done greens before, this time I went with pinks and purples.

Base coat. You really needed a picture of this.

First colour. This is a baby pink shade from Barry M.

The first blob layer in a darker pink shade. Barry M again.

The second layer of blobs, overlapping the first and leaving plenty of the base colour showing. This is a Ciate shade I will probably never wear, it came in a set, so glad to have a use for it.

All blobbed up and looking pretty shitty, but this is where the magic happens;

Ta-da! A matte top coat (Barry M here) makes it work. Diffuses the blobby-ness and blurs all the messy bits. I was quite pleased with this, worked out better than I thought it would.

Oh and I accidentally dressed up as the Joker…

Didnt realise my hair was ‘Joker Green’, although the bright red lips and pale face makeup might have helped…

I didn’t have time to completly change it, but swapping for a darker lipstick definitely helped.

Still looking quite demented. I was running late, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
